| Whatever the reason
for handing a baby over for adoption placement, most mothers are hoping the
adoptive parents can give the child a better home, a more suitable
beginning in life. It is to this end that a temperament analysis could
prove helpful. Some adoptions work well, others bring many conflicts
along the way.
Finding an adoptive mother whose temperament is the same
or similar to the birth mother could ensure that the baby would
be
raised in like fashion. It is evident that the baby would also have some
of the traits of the birth mother, thereby thriving best in a familiar
atmosphere.
The temperament analysis could eliminate unnecessary
strife from clashing temperaments and improve quality of life for each
baby (or child) placed in a new home to ensure that they truly grow up to be the
best they can be.
Foster Care Placement
Temperament analysis is a positive aid in the screening selection of
potential foster parents as well as the children (evaluation done as
early as age seven) to enable the best placement possible. The
temperament analysis could enable Foster Care Agencies to determine
which prospective foster parents are most desirable for this
undertaking, and which have temperament traits that make them the least
desirable.

It is possible to place a child in
a home with foster parents with similar temperament traits,
thereby promoting the best response and the best success ratio. In-home
therapy and
prevention, likewise, can only benefit from the temperament analysis. It
is by understanding each others needs and natural inclinations that we
begin to change and grow.

Foster Care and the protection of
innocent children against abuse and neglect has long been close to my
heart. Social workers work long, hard hours and tirelessly give of
themselves to ensure the safety, healing and happiness of each child
found in a perilous environment. Yet, it is not enough to rescue these children from
harm.
We must work together to do everything possible to help turn their lives
around; from victims to victors!
